WHY CHOOSE ST JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC SCHOOL?

Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important educational decisions you will make. As parents, carers or grandparents you have a choice - and the right - to provide your child with the best education available.

St Joseph’s Catholic School Rosebery offers educational experiences that form the student or young person’s physical, moral, intellectual and spiritual gifts.

We have a supportive community of teachers, parents, support staff, parish priest and an active Parents and Friends Association who work together for the ultimate good of our students. We all work to encourage success, promote self-discipline, support creativity and instil compassion.

St Joseph’s has a commitment to focus on each individual student’s ability, offering a unique array of educational, creative, sporting and formation opportunities for all students.

FOUR REASONS WHY STUDENTS AND PARENTS CHOOSE ST JOSEPH’S

What we offer:

  1. Enrolment for all children regardless of religious and cultural background catering for students from Kindergarten to year 6.
  2. Promote human flourishing centred on the teachings of Christ in an atmosphere of hospitality, respect, compassion, honesty, tolerance and cooperation.
  3. A safe space to develop students' understanding of self, the world, social interactions, emotional intelligence as well as academic rigour.
  4. An opportunity for our students to engage in innovative and progressive learning and teaching based on the Australian Curriculum and supporting materials.

    WHY CATHOLIC EDUCATION?

Catholic schools are centred on the person of Jesus Christ and are called to live and proclaim the message of the Gospel. Enrolment at St Joseph’s enables the local Catholic community to offer support to parents in the faith education of their children. In addition, our school contributes significantly to the Australian community by promoting quality education and a just and tolerant society.

DOES MY CHILD NEED TO BE CATHOLIC TO ATTEND ST JOSEPH’S?

No. St Joseph’s is open to all who want to share its educational goals, in a community founded on Christian principles. Our school is open to all who wish to be guided in their education by the principles and teachings of Christ.

All families and their children, Catholic or non-Catholic, are invited to have a Catholic education but must be willing to participate in the religious life of the school.

    WHEN IS THE ENROLMENT PERIOD?

St Joseph’s accepts enrolments at any time of the school year, however the official kindergarten enrolment period for the following year is during the third term.

We encourage enquiries should you wish to have your child attend St Joseph’s at any time throughout the school year.

    WHAT IS THE ENROLMENT PROCESS?

Once an application is received, Parents and Carers have an opportunity to meet with the Principal to discuss your child’s individual learning needs.

St Joseph’s follows the guidelines provided by Catholic Education Tasmania. The enrolment policy has been devised in order to accommodate the needs of families seeking a Catholic education. It aims to set direction for school procedures and practices for enrolling students into Catholic primary and secondary schools within the Diocese of Tasmania and to establish a common, consistent approach in enrolment practices.

DO WE NEED TO PAY FEES?

Our students come from a range of backgrounds and have a range of gifts and challenges. It is the policy of the Catholic Education Tasmania that financial hardship should not prevent any child from attending a Catholic school and no child will be denied a Catholic education because of a family’s genuine inability to pay the required school fees. Any family experiencing financial difficulties is entitled to fee assistance; our school principal will be able to discuss this with you and arrangements can be made so that every child can be enrolled at St Joseph’s. St Joseph’s is committed to offering ALL children the opportunity to be nurtured in an outstanding learning environment.
